PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP with THE VAUGHAN BROTHERS!
Join us to sharpen your skills and broaden your artistic vocabulary!
Benefit from the professional photography expertise of Daniel and David Vaughan of Vaughan Group, as they provide
you with a fun Workshop on the basic technical and artistic skills that make up the foundation of great photography!
For newbies to advanced beginners, this interactive Workshop aims to raise your level of photographic proficiency
by demystifying the tools, controls and thought process leading up to the actual moment of taking a great photo!
Using examples for review and discussion, we will show you the tools and the thinking behind a photo opportunity.
This will include a review of the core creative controls like aperture, shutter, white balance and ISO, as well as
the artistic considerations such as quality of light, compositional theory, the Rule of Thirds, depth of focus and more.
Participants will be shown how to combine these core controls and artistic aspects to develop a confident photographic style and competency… "the hows and whys AND when to apply them”.
Daniel and David both have 35+ years of professional photography and graphic design expertise. They have extensive photo portfolios from shooting travel, portrait, commercial, photojournalism and fine art subjects. The Vaughans work
with regional businesses, artists and organizations providing photography, graphic and web design services.
Daniel is the Photo Editor and lead photographer for County & Quinte Living Magazine. Their photos have recently
been featured in the 2015-17 PEC Art Trail/Taste Guide as well as the 2015-17 PEC Welcome Guide.
This Workshop is an extension of the introductory course on the Essentials of Digital Photography given by
The Vaughan Brothers. Using Adobe Lightroom, the Workshop will focus on how
to catalogue your photo images and bring them to life using easy to understand controls!
It introduces participants to the basics of image manipulation and enhancement using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6
as the gateway software. Emphasis will be on the "Develop Module" where students learn to assess their images and apply the basic tools and techniques to enhance the exposure, tone, colour and clarity of their images.
The course will also include an overview of:
• Lightroom’s "Interface and Tools"
• The "Library Module", where organizing photos into collections and applying metadata will be discussed

They have me
clicking again.” – Nat
“Daniel and David Vaughan approach photography instruction with a balance of passion and practicality. ...
The small class numbers enabled an easy camaraderie to develop among us through discussion and group critiques of our own photos...
The instructors allow their love and enjoyment of photography to shine through, which was evident when the class was interrupted for everyone to grab their cameras and head outside to shoot the sunset
on Muscote Bay.” – Erin
